More than just driveways.

Quick answer: As a guide, a standalone house wash on a typical Eastern Suburbs home runs $400–$1,200, depending on size, height, mould treatment and whether driveways and paths are included. Sound render, brick, concrete and pavers get a pressure wash; weatherboard, old render, Colorbond and anything that could be fibro get a low-pressure soft wash. If we are painting the house, the wash is already built into every Proview exterior quote.

Proview Painting provides professional pressure washing and exterior surface cleaning services across Sydney. In addition to driveway pressure washing, we also clean a wide range of exterior surfaces including walls, pathways, patios, brickwork, rendered surfaces and other outdoor areas exposed to dirt, mould and mildew.

Using commercial pressure washing equipment along with specialised cleaning solutions, we remove built-up grime, mould and algae while helping protect surfaces from further growth. This service is also ideal preparation before exterior painting to ensure surfaces are clean and ready for coating.

We adjust pressure to suit each surface type, so everything is cleaned thoroughly without causing damage.

Before and after

Most of what looks like staining on a driveway or path is build-up, not damage. This is the same concrete before and after a wash:

After — the same driveway pressure washed back to clean aggregate
Before — driveway and common-area concrete, dirty and weathered

Pressure washing in Sydney — common questions

How much does pressure washing a house cost in Sydney?

As a guide, a standalone house wash on a typical Eastern Suburbs home runs $400–$1,200. Size, height, how much mould needs treating and whether driveways and paths are included move it within that range. If we are painting the house, the wash is built into the exterior quote and there is nothing extra to pay. We visit and quote every job, so you get a firm figure rather than a rate per square metre.

How much does it cost to pressure clean a driveway or path in Sydney?

As a guide, a standard driveway or a run of paths starts from a few hundred dollars, and a full house wash that includes the driveway and paths sits toward the top of the $400–$1,200 house range. What moves the price is the area, how much oil, moss or staining has to be lifted, and whether the surface is concrete, pavers or exposed aggregate. We use a commercial surface cleaner rather than a wand on large areas, so the finish comes up even.

What is the difference between soft washing and pressure washing?

Pressure washing uses the force of the water, typically 1,500–2,500 psi through a fan tip, and suits sound render, brick, concrete and pavers. Soft washing runs at low pressure, garden-hose-plus, and lets a cleaning solution and a brush do the work. Weatherboard, old render, fibro, Colorbond and decks get soft washed because they cannot take the pressure. The machine is a tool, not a method; what comes out of the nozzle has to suit the surface.

Can you pressure wash render, weatherboard or fibro?

Sound cement render, yes: 1,500–2,500 psi through a fan tip held about 300 mm off the wall. Old or soft render that sounds hollow when tapped gets a brush and rinse only. Weatherboard is soft washed under 1,000 psi with a wide tip, washed downwards along the boards, because high pressure drives water behind them and furs the timber. Fibro or any pre-1990 sheeting never gets high pressure: we treat it as containing asbestos until it is tested and do a wet, low-pressure hand wash only.

Do you need to pressure wash before painting, and how long do you wait?

Yes. Salt, chalk, mould and dust stop paint sticking, so every exterior repaint we do starts with a wash. The wall then needs 2–3 dry days before the first coat, not 2–3 days, and a shower in between resets the clock. A shaded south wall in winter can take a week, and timber should read under 15% on a moisture meter before primer goes on. Paint over damp and the sun pushes the water back out as blisters in the first summer.

Does pressure washing remove mould?

Water alone spreads it. Blast a mouldy wall and you push live spores across the whole elevation, and it is back within a year under the new paint. Mould is treated first with a diluted sodium hypochlorite solution or an oxygen-bleach product left to dwell for 10–20 minutes; the dwell time does the killing. The wash then removes what is dead and the wall is rinsed properly. Plants get soaked with clean water before and after, and covered where the run-off is heaviest.
